Carmen Montero Mundt, a broker from Jerez, is at the peak of her career, seamlessly blending her success in finance with her passion for fashion. Since childhood, fashion has been an integral part of her life, with fond memories of shopping trips with her mother to Tommy Hilfiger stores in Seville, where they would buy winter clothes. Today, Carmen not only lives out her childhood dreams but has also earned a prominent spot in New York Fashion Week, sitting front row at the Spring-Summer 2025 presentation of the brand she has long admired.
“Being in New York for Fashion Week is a one-of-a-kind experience, a mix of creativity, innovation, and contagious energy,” Carmen said excitedly. For her, the city transforms into a living runway during this iconic event, which kicks off the Big Four Fashion Weeks, including those in London, Milan, and Paris. Tommy Hilfiger, a brand closely tied to American aesthetics, has always been a constant in her life and represents the perfect blend of classic and modern, a style Carmen deeply identifies with.
“The brand and I share a love for the classic yet modern aesthetic,” she notes. Her favorite pieces are the tailored blazers, which she described as the perfect balance of structure and sophistication, ideal for both a day at the office and a night out. Carmen values the importance of feeling empowered and comfortable in what she wears, and this reflects her personal style philosophy.
Inspired by strong women like Jacqueline Kennedy, Amal Clooney, Queen Rania of Jordan, Michelle Obama, and Princess Leonor of Spain, Carmen admires how these figures have used fashion as a tool for empowerment and self-expression. These women, she explains, have mastered the art of combining their institutional roles with a sense of style that defines them—something Carmen aspires to mirror in her own professional and personal life.
Although her career in finance is flourishing, Carmen also aims to create a platform that fosters financial independence and leadership for women in a male-dominated sector. “My dream is to empower women to achieve leadership positions,” she declares with confidence.
Despite her focus on finance, fashion will always hold a special place in Carmen’s life. To her, fashion is a way to connect her professional goals with her personal interests. “I’ve always been drawn to the intersection of art and self-expression, and fashion embodies that,” she admits. What began as a hobby—attending fashion shows and events—has now become a way for her to support designers and trends that align with her values.
One of the most important lessons Carmen has learned from the fashion world is the importance of authenticity. Staying true to her style and values, whether in her wardrobe or professional approach, is crucial to her. While she may not feel ready to advise others about the fashion industry just yet, Carmen has come to realize that this world is as demanding and challenging as any other.
Her first front-row experience at a fashion show is something she will never forget: “Sitting in the front row, watching models walk down the runway, I was captivated by the creativity and artistry on display. It was a surreal experience that made me appreciate how much hard work goes into the fashion industry.” Coming from a different sector, Carmen has learned to value the effort and dedication required to succeed in fashion.
