Madrid – The island of Gran Canaria is all set to welcome a new edition of the Gran Canaria Swim Week by Moda Cálida (GCSW), one of the most prestigious swimwear fashion events in Europe. From October 2 to 5, a total of 40 designers and brands, both national and international, will present their latest collections for the Spring/Summer 2025 season. This year, the runway will showcase several exciting new features, underscoring its growing importance in the industry and drawing increased attention from both the public and fashion experts alike.
One of the main innovations for this edition is the extended duration of the event, which will increase from three to four days. This extension not only accommodates more designers but also aims to enhance the overall experience with additional offerings. While in 2023 the event spanned three days, this year, due to an increased number of participants, it has been decided to add an extra day of shows. This adjustment allows GCSW 2024 to present a more diverse and comprehensive lineup, reflecting the growth and significance of the event in the swimwear fashion industry.
Among the standout features of this edition is the inaugural gala, which for the first time will be held outside the Expomeloneras venue, the traditional setting for the fashion shows. Pasito Blanco Marina, located on the southern coast of Gran Canaria, will serve as the venue for the grand opening. This iconic location, with its views of the Atlantic Ocean, will provide a unique and sophisticated atmosphere to kick off the shows, further enhancing the experiential nature of the event. After the opening day, the runway will move to the Expomeloneras venue, where the remaining three days of presentations will take place.
The increase in participating brands is another highlight of this edition. A total of 40 brands, nine more than in 2023, will showcase their collections on the Gran Canaria runway. Of these, 23 are from the Canary Islands, demonstrating the event’s strong support for local designers, while nine others are international brands from countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Monaco, France, Italy, and Sweden. Notable debuts on the Gran Canaria runway include Guess, Cynthia Rowley, and Alejandra Alonso Rojas, three renowned American brands participating as part of a collaboration between Gran Canaria Swim Week and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA). This collaboration highlights the international scope the event has achieved, establishing itself as a relevant platform not only for Spanish designers but also for renowned global names.
Beyond fashion, Gran Canaria Swim Week offers attendees a holistic experience. Just outside the Expomeloneras venue, the GCSW Terrace will be set up, an open space where attendees can enjoy a diverse gastronomic offering and a chill-out area. This leisure and relaxation space is designed to complement the intense schedule of runway shows, providing a relaxed and elegant atmosphere where the public and industry professionals can unwind and socialize between presentations.
As for the event schedule, the opening gala on October 2 will feature brands such as Victoria Cimadevilla, Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, and Alexandra Miró, among others. On October 3, the second day of shows will include presentations from brands such as Macaronesia, Banana Moon, and Alejandra Alonso Rojas. Friday, October 4, will showcase renowned brands like Econaked, Miss Bikini, and Guess, while on the final day, October 5, emerging designers such as Patricia Caro and Sirago will debut their collections, alongside established brands like Melissa Odabash and Carlos Sanjuan, who will close the event.
The Gran Canaria runway not only focuses on showcasing the latest swimwear trends but also maintains a strong commitment to sustainability and emerging talent. During the 2024 edition, three significant awards will be presented: the Best Collection Award, the Best Sustainable Collection Award, and the Best Emerging Collection Award. These awards aim to recognize the creativity, innovation, and commitment of designers to the future of fashion.
Gran Canaria Swim Week 2024 promises to be an unforgettable edition, marked by expansion, innovation, and an international vision that continues to cement this event as one of the world’s leading swimwear fashion showcases. With a diverse lineup and a unique experiential atmosphere, GCSW continues to raise the bar for fashion shows in Europe.
