The Spring-Summer 2025 show by Fendi marked the official start of Milan Fashion Week, celebrating a remarkable milestone in the brand’s history. As Fendi approaches its centenary, creative director Kim Jones sought to honor the visionary founder, Adele Casagrande, who, alongside her husband Edoardo Fendi, established the fashion house in 1925 on Rome’s Via del Plebiscito. “The foundations of how women dress today, and in many ways, our way of thinking, stem from the 1920s. It’s all about modernity in style and attitude,” Jones explained, reflecting on the inspirations that shaped this collection.
To commemorate this significant anniversary, the soundtrack for the show featured the voices of Anna Fendi and Silvia Venturini Fendi, Adele’s daughter and granddaughter, respectively. This generational dialogue not only evoked cherished memories of the founder but also underscored the core values that have long defined the brand. Today, just as it did 99 years ago, Fendi aims to create beautiful, high-quality pieces that serve as a mirror of the culture in which they exist. “As Fendi’s founder, my grandmother Adele’s obsession with quality—both personally and professionally—was paramount,” noted Silvia Venturini, the brand’s Artistic Director for Accessories and Men’s Fashion.
The tribute to Adele continued through the accessories, including a reimagined version of the iconic Mamma Baguette bag, now taller and wider than the original design. The runway was awash with transparency, featuring silk and organza undergarments, dresses, shirts, and stockings, all styled with ballet flats, open-toe heels, and boots. Creative innovations were on display, such as tank tops turned inside out to become chic skirts, and oversized dresses that enveloped the body in a soft embrace. The leatherwork also extended to the Fendi Filo jewelry line, designed by Delfina Delettrez. This collection can be seen as a conversation between Jones and the women of Fendi, blending heritage with contemporary flair.
Front-row attendees included renowned performance artist Marina Abramović, actresses Shailene Woodley and Song Hye-kyo, and singer Normani, all of whom added to the vibrant atmosphere of this celebratory event.
