Gran Canaria Swim Week, Europe’s premier swimwear fashion show, is gearing up for its October 2024 edition. Scheduled from October 2 to October 5, the event will feature 40 designers and brands from around the world.
Organized by the Gran Canaria Council’s Department of Industry, Trade, and Craftsmanship, with support from the Gran Canaria Chamber of Commerce and the Association of Spanish Fashion Designers (ACME), this year’s Gran Canaria Swim Week will present the Spring/Summer 2025 collections. The event aims to continue promoting its foundational goal, established in 1996, of supporting the island’s textile industry through the Gran Canaria Moda Cálida program. Last year’s event saw over 2 million social media views and a 10.25% return on investment (ROI), underscoring the significant impact of the fashion week on the local textile industry.
Minerva Alonso, Gran Canaria’s Economic Development Minister, highlighted these positive results during a breakfast event on September 16 at the Rosewood Villa Magna Hotel in Madrid. She announced exciting updates for this year’s edition, including the participation of renowned international celebrities like Stella Maxwell and Valentina Ferrer, as well as 40 swimwear brands, more than half of which are from Gran Canaria.
New and Notable Additions
This year’s show will feature debut appearances from major brands like Guess and Alejandra Alonso Rojas, a Madrid-based designer who has made a name for herself in the U.S. fashion scene. The lineup includes 23 Canarian brands, with 14 based in Gran Canaria, 7 from La Palma, and one each from Lanzarote and Tenerife. Additionally, eight Spanish brands from the mainland, including Aurelia Gil and Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada, will showcase their collections.
International participation remains a highlight, with nine global designers, including returning names like Melissa Odabash and Alexandra Miró, and newcomers such as Guess, Cynthia Rowley, and Alejandra Alonso Rojas. This diverse lineup reaffirms Gran Canaria Swim Week’s status as a key player in the international swimwear fashion scene.
A Continued Commitment to Excellence
This edition of Gran Canaria Swim Week aims to strengthen its position as a leading swimwear fashion event in Europe. The focus will be on enhancing the professionalism of the runway shows, featuring prestigious designers from Canarian, national, and international circles. The event continues to emphasize its unique role and commitment to the fashion industry, affirming its importance as a premier European fashion platform.
